Today we hit the streets delivering our first batch of Sweet Tri Pastries throughout downtown Los Angeles' Skid Row district. Thanks to everyone's generous donations we passed out over 60 chocolate chip cookies, fudge brownies, lemon pound cakes and sweet potato pies along with bottles of water to those in need. While a positive first step for the Sweet Tri mission it was also very eye opening. It was both humbling and difficult to witness just how hard others have it. We weren't prepared for everything "Skid Row"

A man passed out with his heroine needle four inches away in need of water is one of many lasting images from the day - we stopped and gave him as many bottles of water as we could. An emaciated woman too frail to stand and ask for anything was rereading and empathizing with her favorite book, The Diary of Anne Frank - she was given one of everything.

At the end of the day the images of smiling faces, thank yous and god bless yous will outshine all others. With the population of the homeless rising each and every day in Los Angeles a pastry or a drink will never be enough to help but it can give someone a sign of hope that people care. Our brownies are in heart-shaped boxes for a reason: we are spreading love.
